What equipment does my player need?

The League provides a shirt and hat.  Players need:

  • Pants (the Manager will let you know what color, but gray is usually a safe bet)
  • Socks (the Manager will let you know what color)
  • Cleats (Tball and Single A cleats are nice to have, but not required.  Only Intermediate and above allowed to have metal cleats)
  • Bat (see below)
  • Helmet (the team will have some available, but having your own avoids lice and other issues)

Please visit the Fairfax Little League Equipment Exchange page on Facebook if you are looking for gently used equipment.

Bats

There have been several changes in Little League International's rules concerning bats over the last year and a half.  Please click HERE for the most up to date information.  This is particularly important if you have a bat with composite construction

How do I know if I have a legal bat?

There have been several changes in Little League International's rules concerning bats over the last year and a half.  Please click HERE for the most up to date information.  This is particularly important if you have a bat with composite construction.

This information is updated frequently by Little League International.

GENERAL INFORMATION (please refer to LLI’s website for specific information)

For 12 year-olds and under:
The length of a bat cannot exceed 32 inches and the barrel of a bat used in any sixty-foot diamond program.   Bats must also conform to USA BAT standards and have the USA BAT manufacturer
stamp on it.   There are both 2 1/4" and  new 2 5/8" barrel size options available in this standard (new in 2018)

Other Useful Bat Information -- Bat lengths range from 28 inch to 32 inch.  The experts say that lighter is usually better.   Use the charts below as guidelines.
